The XXXVI edition of the European Swimming Championships will take place in Rome from 11 to 21 August 2022. Swimming, diving, synchronized swimming and bottom swimming competitions are scheduled. The pool swimming competitions will take place between 11 and 17 August at the Stadio del Nuoto where the 2009 World Championships in Rome were held.
Roman holidays locations
There are several locations that will host the competitions of the XXXVI edition of the European Swimming Championships. Cross-country swimming in Ostia, swimming and diving at the Foro Italico in the Swimming Stadium and finally the synchro inside the Nicola Pietrangeli Stadium in a temporary facility, also at the Foro Italico:
- the swimming and diving competitions at the Swimming Stadium at the Foro Italico;
- the synchro in a temporary facility inside the Nicola Pietrangeli Stadium at the Foro Italico;
- bottom swimming at the Lido di Ostia
More than 11,000 participants are expected with 22,000 registrations for individual competitions and 1,500 athletes in swimming, 600 participants in diving and artistic swimming, 70 teams with 900 athletes in water polo and 1,500 registered for the 3 km of open water swimming.
